Sad news everyone.
Bludvera, one of the brightest thrash bands in the U.K. today, have decided to call it quits after six years. Personally, I’m devastated, and I know I’m not the only one out there who is feeling a bit gutted about this. Bludvera were one of the first bands I ever discussed here on Global Thrash Assault, in fact the band was featured in this blogs first ever post.
Bludvera quickly became one of my favorite bands. The bands ability to fuse old-school influences with those from modern day gave thrashers the breathe of fresh air they were looking for while still providing the killer riffs and blistering solos we’ve all come to expect from the thrash metal genre. Soon after releasing their Terrorform EP, I quickly realized Bludvera weren’t just one of the most promising thrash bands in the U.K, but in the world today. The album made my “Top 10 Albums of 2012” list and I, like most fans of the band, have been eagerly waiting a follow up release ever since.
Sadly my wait for a new Bludvera album has come to an end today and not in the way I was hoping or expecting. Just a few short hours ago Scott, the bands vocalist, took the official Bludvera Facebook page and released the following statement:
Well I wanted to leave this for awhile but I guess I’ll have to come forward now. We tried out best to keep things rolling. You can say “don’t give up!” all you want but the truth is the last year has been absolute nightmar and I’d like to give a real explanation instead of saying something stupid like “creative differences.”
Over the last year and the beginning of this year we’ve been plagued with; loss of members, taking long breaks which has interrupted our routine and loss of determination due to the aforementioned. Few of us tried to keep it going as long as we could but we just lost another member and that pretty much added even more frustration to out form. Also the lack of funds and organisation when it came of putting merchandise together and playing overseas shows.
I’d like to thank every single person who supported us, helped spread the word and had faith in what we were doing from the very beginning. It’s been a great ride, we’ve had some of the greatest memories playing gigs around the country. We’ve met some great people, played with some awesome bands. Played some of the UKs best Metal festivals.
Now this isn’t the be all and end all. Some of us are starting different projects and want to put out some fresh ideas.
And maybe we’ll be back sometime in the future
6 years, it’s been a blast.
There really isn’t much else to say. I’d like to take this time to thank the members of Bludvera for writing such amazing songs, ones that I still thrash myself sense to today and ones that I will be thrashing myself senseless to for years to come. Best of luck in your future endeavors, gentlemen. You’ll be missed!
