It’s been a long time since I’ve discussed a crossover band, too long if you ask me. Sorry about that. But guess what? The crossover drought ends today with the vicious five piece from Ireland known as Visceral Attack!

Formed in 2006 Visceral Attack quickly got to work establishing a fan base by snapping necks throughout the UK opening for bands like Municipal Waste, D.R.I., SSS, Gama Bomb, and Ghoul. In 2008 the band released their debut EP, the five track ‘V For Visceral’ and soon started work on their debut full length album. “Quick and Severe” was “unofficially” released in 2010 and in 2012 the album received a more “official” release after the band inked a deal with Punkerama Records.

According to the official Visceral Attack Facebook page the band is currently hard at work writing material for a new album that will see the light of day by years end. Good news! Let’s be real though, there isn’t a lot of time between now and the new year. The chances of a new Visceral Attack album being released before time expires in 2013 are rapidly fading. All this means however is that Visceral Attack won’t be on anyone’s “Best Album of 2013” list. Instead the band will have to (possibly) wait till 2014 to make their appearance on everyone’s end-of-the-year lists.

Seriously though, all speculation on when a new album will be released aside, Visceral Attack are a band you want, no, NEED to have in your life. If you like your thrash fast and furious with a pinch of hardcore thrown in for good measure, Visceral Attack are the band you’ve been searching for. Both V For Visceral and Quick and Severe feature deadly riffs designed to snap necks and a pounding drum assault that will cave in your chest. With lyrics ranging from slamming brews to political corruption, Visceral Attack truly has something for everyone and will have you on your feet thrashing yourself senseless. You’ve been warned!

As I mentioned earlier, Visceral Attack are currently working on a new album. Until the album drops do yourself a favor and get caught up on the greatness that is Visceral Attack by following the band on Facebook and purchasing their albums on the bands official BandCamp page!
