UPDATE: Chaos Over The U.K.

I’ve been talking about the Chaos Over The U.K. compilation for longer than I can remember. I’m sure some of you are sick of reading the words “soon” and “almost there” and to be honest, I’m sick of teasing you all about it. It’s about damn time you all get the proper update you deserve!

Please keep in mind I’ve never actually released an album that you can physically hold in your hands. I mean I’ve released Wreck Your Neck Volume 1 and Volume 2 is well underway but remember, those are only available as a free digital download, a physical release is much more complicated.
Let’s be real here, Chaos Over The U.K. is something special. It’s an entire compilation dedicated to a scene of thrash metal. The bands who will agree to participate deserve nothing but the best. That may sound like an obvious fact but lets be honest, there are a lot of people out there who have charged a fee in order to participate and then quickly slapped something together and then pocket all the money from sales. I’m not in the business of slandering people but we’ve all seen this happen or have heard stories. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this is stealing and downright immoral. I hate it and I know I’m not the only one out there who feels this way. With that said here’s a rough draft of what I’ve come up with:
I (Global Thrash Assault) will have no less than one-thousand (1000) copies of Chaos Over The U.K. pressed.

Participating bands will not be charged any fee to appear on Chaos Over The U.K.

A total of fourteen (14) bands will be featured on Chaos Over The U.K. Each band will receive no less than thirty-five (35) copies of Chaos Over The U.K. free of all shipping cost.

Copies of Chaos Over The U.K. will be sold for no more than ten (10) dollars or 10 USD. Profits participating bands make from sales of Chaos Over The U.K. are there’s to keep.

A band can request an additional thirty-five (35) copies of Chaos Over The U.K. but must pay for cost of shipping.

Chaos Over The U.K. will be made available digitally through the BandCamp service on a “pay what you like” format. Digital sales belong to Global Thrash Assault.

If Chaos Over The U.K. is re-pressed the above terms will once again apply.
Now let’s break this down. I’m starting off with 1000 copies. There will be 14 bands on the compilation all of them receiving 35 copies right off the bat.
14 X 35 = 490
490 copies are going directly to the bands. That’s basically a 50/50 split between myself and the 14 parties who will be participating.
Chaos Over the U.K. will be sold for no more than ten (10) dollars or 10 USD.
Again each band is getting 35 copies and each copy will be sold for $10.
35 X 10 = 350
Each of the participating bands will have the potential of earning $350 from sales of Chaos Over The U.K. Keep in mind bands can request an additional 35 copies but must pay for cost of shipping.
Chaos Over The U.K. will be made available digitally through the BandCamp service on a “pay what you like” format. Digital sales belong to Global Thrash Assault.
There are a lot of people out there who like digital. I think the name your price thing is fair. However if the participating bands have a problem with how the digital sales will be handled I’m open to discussion. However if no one says anything this is how it will stand.
Personally I think the above terms are fair and will most likely stand as they are (however like I said above I’m open for discussion on the digital sales).
The track listing for this release will be reveled once the layout is done and everything is off to the presses.
Speaking of lay-out, how does a 20 page booklet complete with pictures, bios and a nicely written foreword sound? Yeah. That’s what I thought.
That’s all for now. Keep your eyes peeled for more details in the coming weeks.

  1. This sounds like it’s gonna be pretty incredible. I’ll definetely be getting a CD when you get them out to the bands in the UK. Don’t know who is featured yet, but I’m sure it’s gonna be an awesome compilation.
