For the last four years I’ve been an employee for UPS and as you can imagine the holiday season is the busiest time of year for the international shipping giant. As a child Christmas was the most exciting time of the year for me, now as a working adult, I’ve come to dread the holiday. There’s just something about waking up at 1AM everyday to go to work that just takes the holiday spirit right out of me.
This morning while many of you were still up late surfing the net, listening to music or whatever it is you do at approximately 12:30 in the morning, I was waking up from a NyQuil induced coma completely hating everything around me. After grabbing my cell phone to turn off my insufferable alarm I immediately sat up in bed and did what any other 22 year old would do, I opened my Facebook App and began to browse. After thumbing through an abundance of “status updates” about random crap I couldn’t careless about I finally stumbled upon one so good it brought a smile to my face and made me forget about the long day of work ahead. Leave it to one of my favorite thrash bands – Viking – to fill me with joy and excitement and to once again make me feel like a child around the Christmas holiday.
Thrashers rejoice, the mighty Viking are invading the Northeast of the United States and if you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m pretty fucking excited about it! I simply can’t get enough of Do or Die and Man of Straw and with the release of the tracks 9:02 on Flight 182 and An Ideal Opportunity off the bands upcoming album No Child Left Behind I’ve been listening to the band more now than ever before. For me March 9th can’t come soon enough!
If you’re in the general vicinity of one of these shows then there is no excuse not to attend, so be there or be lame!
